Abstract

Over the last forty years, Atkinson Grimshaw's beautiful, evocative paintings of moonlit suburban lanes, gas lit city streets and docksides have emerged as some of the most popular works of the Victorian age. They are much loved and admired, not only by visitors to public galleries where they can be found, particularly in the north fo England, but also by the artist's many dedicated present day collectors.
Grimshaw's influence on contemporary British photographer Liza Dracup, who is known for work that captures the magical atmosphere of moonlight.
