Abstract
October is ADHD Awareness Month, and I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting. I have been reflecting on how my parents were warned about my ‘difficult’ future, how I would likely drop out of school and how my successes are introduced with the phrase “despite having ADHD”. This is not uncommon for people with ADHD, and it comes from society’s lack of awareness of what ADHD is like. So, as a lecturer with ADHD here at Leeds Trinity University, I wanted to share some of my reflections to help promote awareness and representation.
