    Abstract

The protagonist of this case study is Anika Patel (not her real name), a British-Asian businesswoman who founded a business called 'School of Serenity'. Her entrepreneurial journey illuminates the difficulties that British-Asian women often face in western society as they strive to express their identities and embrace their dual heritage. This study examines the way in which ethnic identification and life-course stages drive Anika's entrepreneurial activities and evaluates their effect within the context of sociological entrepreneurship theory. It further reveals the considerable obstacles Anika faced and how she used them to her advantage to reinforce her own identity recognition and social standing.
