Abstract
This workshop will demonstrate an intervention based on sand tray work for use with entrepreneurs in developing their business idea. This intervention is designed to bring the abstract ideas and issues to the forefront through sculpture and creative sand play. The subsequent ‘re-reading and re-telling’ of the sculpture allows entrepreneurs to make sense of their ideas, find new solutions and ways forward and communicate their project effectively.
Students are typically taught about entrepreneurship as part of a business education rather than facilitating a learning experience that is ‘contextual, experiential and reflexive’ (Rahman and Day 2014 p.163). We demonstrate a technique for unlocking the inner wisdom of entrepreneurs about their business ideas, challenges and potential barriers to development. We show a wider application of Sand Play (Lowenfeld 1961) as a creative learning tool for nascent entrepreneurs in their entrepreneurial journey.
