Project Details
Description
Offsite housing construction (OSC) has been recommended as an alternative, outperforming conventional construction methods with renowned capabilities to engender sustainable housing delivery. Also, the increasing quest for sustainable futures whilst meeting housing supply targets accentuates the need for the optimal integration of Circular Economy (CE) principles into OSC process and products. This, in turn, creates the emergence of Circular Offsite Construction systems (COCons) as a concept. Proponents of COCons elucidate its ability to improve sustainability performance of housing projects. However, its effective implementation would require a paradigmatic shift in the nature of designs, manufacturing methodologies, and business model innovations. Currently, AI is spearheading revolutions across industries such as manufacturing, and telecommunications sector and construction industry. Applicability to offsite construction subsector is not an exception. However, empirical evidence to support this proposition, particularly as it relates to organisations involved with COCons implementation remains underdeveloped
