Aims and Objectives The research objectives are: • To explore and understand the role of researcher leaders in the university sector. • To understand how research leadership and management is structured at an organisational level • To explore and understand the management and leadership qualities research leaders believe are important for successfully undertaking their roles. • To explore and understand how research leaders foster growth and success in research activities. The research questions for this project are: 1. What are the main characteristics of the role of researcher leaders in the university sector? 2. How do research leaders relate to the structure of research activities within universities? 3. What are the management and leadership qualities research leaders believe are important for successfully undertaking their roles? 4. How do research leaders attempt to foster growth and success in research activities?
