Biography

Steve has a BA (Hons) Psychology degree from the University of Liverpool and a PhD in the area of Cognitive Ageing from the University of Manchester.  After completing his PhD, he worked as a Research Associate with the University of Manchester on a project funded by the AA Foundation for Road Safety, exploring when and why older drivers give up driving.  Steve has been employed as a Lecturer (later Senior Lecturer) in Cognitive Psychology at Coventry University (1995-1999) and at Leeds Metropolitan University (1999-2006).  He joined Leeds Trinity in September 2006 as a Senior Lecturer and has worked as Programme Coordinator, Academic Group Leader and Associate Head of School. Steve has been Head of Psychology since September 2019.

Research interests

Areas of research interest include:

  • Cognitive psychological aspects of the processing of gaze direction, including gaze-cueing.
  • Understanding and use of food labelling.
  • Enhancing teaching and learning in HE.
