Personal profile
Biography
My name is Stavros Karagiannakidis and I am a lecturer in Adult Nursing at Leeds Trinity University.
I have been a registered nurse for more than 17 years both back in my home country, Greece, and here in the UK. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings:
- As a staff nurse in Neurology and Trauma & Orthopaedics and as a theatre practitioner for Trauma & Orthopaedics in KAT (Centre for Accidents and Trauma) Hospital in Athens, Greece
- As a theatre practitioner for Trauma & Orthopaedics in the Operating Department of NW Anglia NHS Foundation Trust in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
- As a clinical facilitator for medical & surgical wards with the Practice Development Team of NW Anglia NHS Foundation Trust in Peterborough and Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
- As a clinical educator for Trauma & Related Services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals
As a nurse educator, I have always had a keen interest in blended learning and the integration of new technologies into teaching and learning. My thesis for my MSc in Medical & Healthcare Education was a systematic review on "The efficacy of Virtual Reality as a learning tool in Orthopaedic Surgery" which kindled my interest in the utilisation of technology for improved learning outcomes even more.
