Biography
Sharon Edwards is a lecturer on the Health and Social Care programme having previously worked as a visiting lecturer for both The University of Bradford and Leeds Trinity University.
Sharon has over 20 years’ experience of working in the criminal justice fields and in Mental Health. She first qualified as an Art Psychotherapist in 2002 before training in several other modalities of psychotherapy. She became accredited with BABCP as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist in 2013 which is now her main mode of therapeutic intervention. She is also trained in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. Sharon is a BABCP Accredited Trainer and Supervisor.
Sharon’s career to date has spanned across several different organisations and NHS services including Medium Secure, Prison and Probation Services, Acute In-patient and Psychiatric Intensive Care Units. Sharon has extensive experience working within Complex Trauma and Personality Disorder Services, Out-patient Psychology and Psychotherapy Services and is currently the clinical lead for Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service in Haywood, Middleton and Rochdale, Pennine Care NHS Trust.
