Rob Glassborow

Personal profile

Biography

After serving in the Royal Air Force, Robert earned a degree in Communication Media from Manchester Metropolitan University. He then worked in broadcast media as a project manager. However, he felt a calling to policing and left the media industry to pursue a career in law enforcement. Robert initially served as Police Staff in the control room and as a Special Constable before becoming a regular officer.

He served with both North Yorkshire Police and, more recently, British Transport Police (BTP). Throughout his career, he gained experience in response policing and neighborhood policing. Robert was one of the first proactive officers on the BTP County Lines Task Force, which was commissioned by the Home Secretary in 2019 to address issues related to modern-day slavery and to safeguard vulnerable individuals involved in controlled drug supply networks.

Robert has qualified in the Certificate of Knowledge in Policing, obtained a Diploma in Policing, and successfully passed the NPPF 2 Sergeants exam. He eventually left BTP, having achieved the rank of Sergeant.

After spending two and a half years as a lecturer in the Professional Policing Degree program at The University of Law, Robert is currently a lecturer within the School of Social Sciences at Leeds Trinity University delivering courses in criminology, policing, and investigation programs. He is also the producer of the school's podcast 'PACE Compliant'.

His areas of interest include operational policing, the delivery of learning, vulnerability and safeguarding, the role of technology in policing and securitization, and contemporary criminological theory and its application to current contexts.
