Biography
After serving in the Royal Air Force Robert attained a degree in Communication Media at Manchester Metropolitan University and then worked in broadcast media as a project manager. A calling to policing came and Robert left the media industry to enter policing serving initially as Police Staff in the control room environment, as well as a Special Constable, before becoming a regular officer. Serving with both North Yorkshire Police and latterly British Transport Police (BTP) and gaining experience in response policing and neighborhood policing he was one of the initial proactive officers on the BTP County Lines Task Force commissioned by the Home Secretary in 2019 to deal with modern-day slavery and the safeguarding of vulnerable persons caught up in controlled drug supply networks. Qualified in the Certificate of knowledge in Policing, Diploma in Policing, and passing the NPPF 2 Sergeants exam Robert left BTP as a Sergeant.
After spending two and a half years at The University of Law as a Lecturer on the Professional Policing Degree he is now one of the Lecturers on the Police Constable Degree Apprentices programs at Leeds Trinity University and is also currently studying MSc Criminology at Teesside University.
His subject area interests are operational policing and the delivery of learning, vulnerability and safeguarding, technology in policing and securitisation, contemporary criminological theory, and its application to current contexts.
