Professor Lloyd is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of the academic and research portfolio, internationalisation, student support and the delivery of a distinctive student experience for Leeds Trinity University students and for quality enhancement and standards.

He joined Leeds Trinity University from the University of Abertay, where he was Professor of Human Performance and Head of School/Dean for the School of Social and Health Sciences.  Professor Lloyd’s School was the largest of the five Schools at Abertay and included nursing and counselling, psychology, sociology, and sport and exercise sciences.  He was also Chair of the Quality Assurance Committee and Vice Chair of Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee.

Research interests


Professor Lloyd has a PhD, has published extensively in peer reviewed publications, mainly in the areas of human load carriage and Strength & Conditioning.  Before joining Abertay in 2005 he was Principal Lecturer at Leeds Metropolitan University.  During this time he worked with Leeds United, Yorkshire County Cricket Club and the LTA Regional Academy in Leeds as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, as well as providing Sports Science support.  Prior to embarking on an academic career he had worked successfully as both a teacher of Mathematics and as a Track and Field coach.  In the latter role he served for four years as Director of Coaching for the Botswana Athletics Association.
