Biography

Nina Fryer is a public health professional with an academic background in organisational health and wellbeing, health promotion and evaluation of interventions.  Nina gained her undergraduate degree from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1999, before completing at PGCE in post compulsory education at the University of Leeds in 2002, and an MSc in Public Health (Health Promotion) at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2007.

Previously, Nina has worked as a lecturer and course leader in further and higher education colleges, and has also spent four years working as a Public Health Manager, directly applying academic knowledge in the areas of public health to an employment setting. 

Nina has managed the creation of a cross national HEFCE funded 3 year project building the evidence on what works at improving wellbeing in higher education institutions, has been a panel member for the Office for National Statistics’ national consultation on measuring national wellbeing, and has contributed a chapter to a book by Professor Ivan Robertson and Professor Cary Cooper on Wellbeing at Work.​ Nina is currently on her way to completing her PhD which looks at workplace wellbeing. 

Outside of work Nina enjoys sports including cycling, rock climbing and scuba diving.

Responsible for the design, implementation of the Wellbeing Strategy for University of Leedsstaff. This included management of the Staff Counselling Service, the Staff Mediation Service, development and implementation of the annual staff survey process, delivery of events such as 'Healthy Week' and 'Staff Festival'. Led onthe design and delivery of a staff Policy of Dignity and Mutual Respect.Project managed a £75,000 multi-university bid under the HEFCE Leadership,Governance and Management Fund to gather and share best practice in promoting wellbeing in higher education.
