Dr Lilian Nwachukwu is a Lecturer in Construction and Built Environment with a background in Building Technology (PhD, MSc, HND). She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), a professional member of the Nigerian Institute of Building, and a registered builder. Her teaching covers undergraduate and postgraduate level modules in construction technology, building science and sustainability, construction planning, ethics, and health and safety and so on.
Lilian’s research interests focus on sustainable and affordable housing delivery, incremental housing models, and the role of modern methods of construction (MMC) in reshaping housing markets in both the Global North and South. She is currently working on studies that examine the formalisation of incremental housing in Nigeria, affordability strategies in low-income housing, and the post-mortem analysis of Category 1 MMC firm collapses in the UK.
With a growing research profile, she welcomes collaboration and is particularly interested in supervising PhD researchers working on themes such as affordable housing systems, housing policy and implementation in the Global South, offsite construction, sustainability in construction, and digital innovation in built environment education.
