Lesley is a dedicated and forward-thinking Computer Science professional based in the UK, with over 20 years of experience in Higher Education. She is known for her proactive approach to student support and her commitment to fostering inclusive, engaging learning environments. Lesley has consistently empowered students and colleagues alike to reach their full potential through mentorship, innovation, and community-building.
Teaching Philosophy: As the School's Student Experience Lead, Lesley is deeply committed to creating a strong sense of belonging and community within the learning environment. She believes that Higher Education should be transformative and accessible to all, irrespective of their age, background, or gender. Her teaching philosophy centres on nurturing curiosity, which she sees as the foundation for problem-solving, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
Experience and Achievements: In her previous role at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), Lesley made significant contributions as an external examiner, course leader, year tutor, and module leader. She was instrumental in embedding a university-wide peer support system, enhancing student engagement and retention. A standout achievement was co-creating The Computing Challenge—an award-winning, team-based Agile module designed to ease students’ transition into university life, foster collaboration, and unlock their academic potential.
Professional Affiliations: Lesley is a proud Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS), reflecting her commitment to professional excellence in IT. She is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), a recognition of her sustained impact on teaching and learning in Higher Education.
