Biography

Kostas Maronitis is Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations. His research focuses on the immigration and automation of labour, political communication, and comprative European politics. Kostas Maronitis has published articles on immigrant detention and human rights,  networks of protest, cosmopolitanism and citizenship, the politics of fear and victimhood, sovereignty and Brexit, automation and immigration. 

His research appears in European Politics and Society, British Politics, Cultural Politics, Angles, the journal of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies, the International Encycopedia of Mass Media and Society, the Wiley-Blackwell Encyclopedia of Sociology and Radical Philosophy among others. 

Kostas Maronitis is Associate Editor of the journal Political Communication (Frontiers). 

Kostas Maronitis is the author of the books Robots and Immigrants (Bristol University Press, 2022) and Postnationalism and the Challenges to European Integration in Greece: The Transformative Power of Immigration (Palgrave, 2017). 

Kostas Maronitis frequently appears in local, national and international media. He has provided commentary to and been interviewed by the BBC, LBC, the Daily Express, the Yorkshire Post, Huck magazine, Movement Radio, Radio Aire, Rzeczpospolita, La Razon and ITV News.  Kostas Maronitis is an expert contributor to the Parliamentary Office for Science and Technology (POST) and has appeared in public debates and events at the Onassis Foundation, the Leeds Salon and the Forum 2000. 

Kostas Maronitis has written articles and opinion pieces for the New Statesman, the Friedrich Ebert Insitutte, the ETERON think tank, Re-Shaping Work, the Documenta Exhibition Daybook, Yorkshire Evening Post, Rosa, Athens Voice, and the City of Athens Radio.
