Biography

Kirstie joined Leeds Trinity University as a Lecturer in Psychology in September 2021, having previously worked as Programme Director for BSc (Hons) Psychology at UCO and has worked in higher education for 9 years. Prior to this, she has worked as a Statistician for KELDA (Yorkshire Water), owed her own company for 9 years and previously worked in nursing roles. 

 

Kirstie is an Associate Fellow and Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is a member of the BPS Undergraduate Education Committee where she engages in both paper-based programme reviews and in partnership visits to universities across the UK (United Kingdom) to support the accreditation with the BPS. This role includes an audit responsibility (assuring the quality of taught programmes meet the requirements) and a joint responsibility for accrediting programmes and enhancing quality on both a national and international level.  

 

Kirstie’s dissertation and postgraduate research examined neurological response to differing visual stimuli such as violent, pornographic, and disgusting content that built upon previous research around aggressive behaviour and the effects of videogame violence. She is active in research and currently has several projects underway inclusive of a collaborative project involving charity and institutional Stakeholders (i.e., Victim Support, The Survivors Trust, Revenge Porn Helplin, White Ribbon UK, Tell MAMA and the OfS) to gain a better understanding around sexual harassment and consent in our online environments and applications.
