Science Educator.  Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry; Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.

Held Professorial positions at the University of Leeds (2000-2010), Hull (2010-2012) and Sheffield Hallam (2012-2018), with Visiting Chairs at Gothenburg, Sweden (2001-2) and Leeds (2010-14; 2017-now).

Member of Education Sub-Panel for UK RAE (2008) and Deputy Chair of REF Education Sub-Panel (2014).  Deputy Chair of Education Panel in Hong Kong RAE (2020).

Member of BERA Council (2017-present).  Member of British Academy Royal Society Joint Working Group on Educational Research (2016-2018).
