Biography

 

Janet is a Senior Lecturer in Child and Family studies. Having undertaken a degree in Education Studies, she has also completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education, a Foundation Degree in Children and Young People Learning and Specialist Teaching Assistant Certificate (STAC).

 

Before joining Leeds Trinity University she worked in a variety of educational settings with various  roles and responsibilities. She worked in Further and Higher Education establishments where she gained teaching experience. However, most of her experience and work was gained through several years in a Primary School, as well as an Early Years setting, where she specialised in Special Educational Needs. Over the years Janet worked with many remarkable children and families which inspired her to study and progress into her current position.

 

Janet joined Leeds Trinity University in 2007. She has had many roles and responsibilities within the university, including:

 

  • 2015/2016 Admissions Tutor

  • Progress/Development Tutor

  • Teaching on Foundation Degree, BA (Hons) and BA (Hons) Professional Practice programmes at all levels during the last 8 years

  • Dissertation Supervisor

  • Member of the Foundation Degree Team

Janet teaches a variety of modules across a range of courses here at Leeds Trinity. This academic year her courses and modules are:

  • Introduction to SEN and Disability

Research interests

Janet has a specific interest and expertise in Special Educational Needs and Disability as well as Teaching Assistants/HLTAs (Higher Level Teaching Assistants).
