Edward joined Leeds Trinity University in 2021 and is a Senior Lecturer in Children, Young People, and Families. Edward's research interests concern how social media may (or may not) inform the identity and well-being of adolescents and emerging adults.
Edward is currently conducting a three-wave longitudinal survey with members of the LGBTQ+ community regarding how Instagram use may inform their sexual identity and overall well-being. Data has been collected from over 2,000 adolescents in the USA, Poland, and the Czech Republic, and to help conduct this research, Edward has collaborated with researchers from Ohio State University, the University of Wroclaw, and Jan Evangelista Purkyne University.
Collaborating with international partners is indeed central to Edward's work, and he has recently published articles with colleagues from universities across Europe, including KU Leuven, the University of Vienna, and the University of Bucharest.
Edward's work has been published in a range of journals across the disciplines of psychology and media studies, including the Journal of Adolescence; Emerging Adulthood; Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking; and Cyberpsychology: Journal of Psychosocial Research on Cyberspace.
