Biography

David taught for 18 years across the primary age range in a number of primary schools in the North East and North Yorkshire.  He also worked as Primary Manager for an outdoor education company, leading residential activity programmes and school-based activities, before joining the Primary Education Department at Leeds Trinity University in September 2013.

A former deputy and headteacher, David has undertaken many roles in primary education including leadership in ICT/Computing, PE, Numeracy, Geography, SENCo, Healthy Schools Co-ordinator, Eco Schools Co-ordinator, Educational Visits Coordinator and school governor.

Teaching and Administration

David teaches across the Primary Undergraduate and Post-graduate programmes in the Institute of Childhood and Education. He teaches ICT/Computing on the UG programmes and Professional Studies on the PG course. He also teaches on the PGCE Level 7 modules. He supports the recruitment process and is a personal tutor for students at all levels.
 
David is the Co-ordinator for the School Direct Distance PGCE Partnerships working with partners in Ilkley (North Yorkshire) and Thornaby (Stockton-on-Tees). The role involves close-partnership work with school leaders to support the delivery of high quality ITT at distance from LTU.
 
Since 2021, David has been the HLTA Programme Manager at LTU. He is also a tutor on the courses supporting candidates in preparation for HLTA Assessment. David is a Senior Assessor with HLTA North and works in partnership with colleagues from Northumbria University and Leeds Beckett University. He is also a member of the HLTA National Assessment Partnership (HNAP) working with colleagues at national level on the administration and effective running of the HLTA programme across England.
