Biography

I graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with an undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science (physiology) in 2010 and was awarded my PhD entiled 'Visceral body fat and the link to impaired cognitive function; focus on systemic and cerebrovascular endothlial function' in 2017 from the University of South Wales. My PhD investigated the effects of visceral adiposity on cerebrovascular and cardiorespiratory function and the link to cognitive dysfunction.

I am a fellow of the higher education academy and was awarded the postgraduate certificate in academic practice from Coventry University in 2016.  

Research interests

My main research focus is determining the impact that obesity poses to heath and wellbeing across the lifespan. Currently I am undertaking a research project assessing the impact of obesity on the development of fundamental movement skills in primary aged school children. The primary aim of this project is to determine if theses fundamental movement skills are impaired in those indivdiuals that are deemed obese during these key development years and if so to what extent. This project is in collabration with Coventry University. 

I am also continuing my PhD research by looking at the impact that undertaking a weight loss programme has on cerebrovascular function in those invdividuals who are classifed as obese.
