Biography

Dan is a postgraduate researcher based within the Faculty of Social and Health Sciences. His research centres upon the teaching methods, strategies and tools that are used by College-based Higher Education (HE in FE) teachers. In his PhD, he is also exploring the factors that influence the selection of teaching approaches.


With a background in College-based Higher Education and Further Education, Dan is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA) who has 11+ years’ experience as a module leader and four and half years’ experience as HE Programme Leader. Since January 2021, he has occupied a central role as a Teaching and Learning Coach where his remit is to work strategically with Heads of Department and Curriculum Managers to develop teaching staff across a variety of disciplines.


He has published research and delivered at various conferences in the field of education which has included the following research areas: students’ career aspirations, assessment innovation, project-based learning, authentic assessment and flourishing.
