Caroline is an Associate Principal Lecturer in Primary Education. Having undertaken a BA (Hons) degree she has also completed a Masters of Arts in education and a PGCE. She has attained Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

Before Caroline joined Leeds Trinity University she held numerous positions throughout schools. She was a Primary school teacher then became a Headteacher where she managed and lead an infant and nursery school. She joined Leeds Trinity University in 2006 where she became a lecturer in Primary Education.

Caroline teaches a variety of modules throughout the Primary Education Course. These modules are:


Primary Education Early Years

She also  teaches on and supports School Based Training (SBT) for Early Years Teacher Status Course. As well as teaching Caroline also helps students learn and develop by being a progress tutor to 40 undergraduate and postgraduate students by supporting their academic and professional development


Research interests


Caroline has a specific interest and expertise in Early Years Education. Her research areas are Early Years learning and Teacher Education and learning and development.  She is currently involved in a number of research and consultancy projects. These are:


  • Research on transition for teacher training students

  • Research in a local primary school on the pedagogy inspired by Reggio Emila


Caroline can be consulted by external organisations and partners on the following topics:

  • Early years and Primary teacher Education


She has presented a number of presentations at conferences across the past couple of years. The presentations were:


  • Negotiating Professional and Academic Identities, TEAN (Teacher Education Advancement Network) Conference: Achieving the priorities of Teacher Education in Birmingham 2014

  • Presenting a presentation to a research primary school on research findings to date in July 2015
