Personal profile

Biography

I have a BSc (hons) from York St John, and an MSc (Psychological Approaches to Health) and PhD from the University of Leeds. My PhD looked at affective and cognitive influences on health behaviour using the Theory of Planned Behaviour, specifically utilising a messaging paradigm.

I hold Chartered Psychology status with the British Psychological Society, Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education.

Research interests

I have an interest in health and social psychology, specifically in the area of attitude measurement and behaviour change. Have presently conducted work looking at diet improvement, physical activity uptake and reducing binge drinking. I have experience using online and text based methods to intervene with large populations and have conducted work utilising Question Behaviour Effects (QBE).

I have recently been awarded funding to conduct a meta-analysis on the efficacy of tai chi in the elderly. I am also conducting a review assessing the role of affect in physical activity engagement. Currently I am writing a grant investigating one method to improve recycling rates in the general population.

I regularly seek collaboration opportunities with institutions across the country and would be interested to hear of future opportunities that fit my research profile. I also encourage students to get in contact should they have projects that they seek supervision on.
