Biography
Andrew is a Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Childhood & Education and has worked at Leeds Trinity University since 2011. After completing a BA (Hons) in Theology and Religious Studies, he went onto complete an MEd in Education and an MA in Theology and Religious Studies. He has also completed a PGCE and was awarded a PhD in 2020 for his reserach into teacher resilience. His doctoral work was published as a book in 2022 under the title Beacons of Hope: Lessons we can learn from resilient teachers (Oxford: Peter Lang Publishers).
Before joining Leeds Trinity University, Andrew worked as a Senior Lecturer in Education at York St John University. He has also been the Head of Humanities at Archbishop Holgates School in York, Head of RE at Garforth Community College in Leeds, a teacher of RE at St Aidans C of E High School in Harrogate and an Associate Lecturer at the Open University. When Andrew joined Leeds Trinity University in 2011 he was appointed the Programme Leader for the Masters in Teaching and Learning (MTL). For a number of years he was also the Programme Leader for the PG Cert (Secondary) in Initial Teacher Education.
Andrew also reviews draft articles which are published in the academic journal Professional Development in Education.

Research interests
Andrew has specific interests and expertise in: Teacher Resilience, Religious Education and Middle Leadership. His research areas are Teacher Resilience and Reflective Practice.
He is currently working on a turning his doctoral research on teacher resilience into a book and publishing it with Peter Lang Publishers
