University of Oxford Qualitative Methods Hub seminar Anonymity: can we promise it? Should we?
In this presentation I will describe some of the ethical dilemmas that have occurred in my research with women around the key issue of anonymity. Life-history interviews with teacher mothers and women in academia have created ethical knots and tangles for me, my supervisors and ethics reviewers and I will outline some of the views expressed and theorised, as well as expanding on my current strategy of not promising anonymity at all.
