Catholicism and the Curious Outsider: The Case of Virginia Woolf

Activity: Invited talk/public lecture/debate

Description

Part of Leeds Trinity University's 'Beyond the Dark Clouds' Lecture Series.

My research has revealed that Woolf had a deeper and more thoughtful engagement with questions of faith, spirituality and ethics than critics had assumed for many years. This talk concentrated on examples of Woolf’s engagement with Catholicism, looking at four areas: personal contacts; travels in Europe; religious art; and social justice.
